This role involved designing, managing, and supporting enterprise network and server environments while collaborating with other departments and IT teams on business initiatives. Long-term planning, development, and project execution, as well as implementing new technologies like the virtual firewall transition, increased productivity and reliability for users.
Blending network engineering (LAN/WAN/firewalls) with systems engineering (servers, storage, virtualization), this role also included periodic travel to Garver offices to support office infrastructure projects. Whether on site or remote, requirements from business lines and internal IT teams were critical to make sure projects were aligned with business initiatives and cyber security insurance requirements while also aligning with client contract compliance.
Focusing on customer service and offering timely solutions in high pressure situations was key to supporting users at Garver. This included building knowledge of corporate applications and technical systems to help troubleshoot and implement solutions for users throughout the company.
This position covered a large range of personalities and tasks. Each challenge to solve involved unique perspectives and communication styles. In addition to monitoring and alerting on ~200 systems and supporting applications for ~800 users, creating and maintaining SOP documentation was a key part of this role.
Traveling across the country with a mixture of experienced and new crew members setting up, managing, and tearing down live events for up to ~2,000 attendees.
